Isabel has had a passion for horses since the age of two, and since none of her family knew anything about horses she started the journey on her own. She saved her pocket money and bought her own pony at the age of 11 with her best friend Leslee, (unbeknown to their parents).
Although Isabel only started to compete more seriously later on in her life, she makes up for it now, competing on 5 horses up to 1.30m classes. She has loved the journey and feels that this helps her understand her pupils better.
She believes that if treated and trained correctly horses will give of their very best for their rider.
Isabel loves to work with competitive riders who are enthusiastic and hard working. She is sympathetic and encouraging with the more nervous riders.
Isabel attends seminars given by overseas instructors and course builders and keeps abreast of modern thinking.
Isabel was Chairperson of Equitation in Gauteng for 4 years until personal commitments intervened. She is on the National Judging panel and is keen on course building.
When Isabel is not around the horses you will find her on the golf course, her second passion in life. With the horses taking up so much of her time now she looks forward to playing more golf in the future.
